Traditional Chinese Postpartum Meals & Nutrition
Nourishing Mothers Through Traditional Chinese Confinement Foods

At Lisa's Chinese Postpartum Care, we believe nutritious, freshly prepared meals are an important part of postpartum recovery. Our experienced confinement nannies prepare traditional Taiwanese, Cantonese, and Chinese home-style dishes based on each mother's preferences, family traditions, and nutritional needs.

Traditional Postpartum Meals
Our confinement meals include sesame oil chicken, ginger chicken, pigfeet soup, sticky rice, Taiwanese sticky rice, steamed fish, pork rib soup, beef soup, chicken soup, shrimp, fresh vegetables, seame chicken, dumplings, wonton soup, red bean soup, peanut soup, and other homemade dishes.

We prepare a variety of meals throughout the confinement period to provide balanced nutrition and help mothers regain their strength.

Breastfeeding Support & Nourishing Soups
For breastfeeding mothers, we prepare traditional lactation-supporting soups, including fish soup, chicken soup, peanut soup, and other nourishing recipes commonly enjoyed during Chinese confinement.

We understand that every mother’s milk supply and dietary needs are different. Our nannies can adjust meals according to individual preferences, while encouraging adequate nutrition and hydration.

Traditional Confinement Water & Herbal Drinks
Depending on family traditions, we can prepare confinement water, ginger tea, red date tea, and other traditional postpartum beverages.

Some families prefer traditional herbal soups and drinks, while others choose a more modern approach. We respect each family’s preferences and prepare these items upon request. Herbal ingredients are used only when appropriate for the mother’s health and breastfeeding needs.

Traditional Chinese Postpartum Food Customs
In traditional Chinese confinement practices, certain foods are considered too “cooling” or too “heating” for new mothers.

Families may traditionally avoid cold drinks, raw foods, mung beans, cucumbers, or certain vegetables during the early postpartum period. Warming ingredients such as ginger and sesame oil are commonly included in confinement cooking.

These customs are part of Chinese postpartum culture rather than universal medical restrictions. We respect traditional preferences while recognizing that mothers need a balanced diet, sufficient fluids, and appropriate nutrition.

Personalized Meals for Every Mother
Every mother recovers differently. Some prefer traditional Taiwanese confinement meals, others enjoy Cantonese soups or lighter Chinese home-style cooking.

Our nannies can adjust dishes according to taste preferences, dietary restrictions, breastfeeding needs, and family requests.

Our goal is simple: fresh, comforting, nutritious meals that help mothers feel cared for throughout their postpartum journey.
